Increase Your Capacity for Greater Productivity
2 Kings 4:3
"Then he said, 'Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors empty vessels; do not gather just a few.'"
The frustration of many people today is not the economic nor social context of their country, but their lack of capacity. In the same country you find yourself, there are people who are solicited by many companies for work when others are job seekers; there are people building new houses when others are houseless. There are people carrying on their projects, eating at will as if they were living in a different world. Meanwhile, just beside them, there are also other people who cannot eat one meal per day. They are barely able to meet the two ends. What is the problem? Capacity. Capacity is the sum total of our competences, skills, talents, and potentials that makes us relevant. It is our development and resourcefulness. It is our aptitude and dexterity. Capacity is what makes you too qualified to be ignored.
our text is Elisha’s prophetic word to a prophet’s wife who found herself in a debt and her creditors were threatening to take her son. There are some truths to pick from the story.

(1) You see, spirituality alone is not enough to solve all problems of life.
Yes, there is spiritual capacity, but it cannot put food on the table. You need intellectual and financial capacities. Coming to the Servant of God for a solution, he did not pray that God should cancel the debt, but ask the woman to borrow vessels from her neighbors.
(2) There are things God cannot do for you; example, building your capacity.
She had to go borrow vessels everywhere from all her neighbors everywhere possible. And for that matter as many vessels as possible. This stands for building capacity. You must go get knowledge and skills from your neighbors (teachers, trainers, schools…).
(3) You can start with what you have.
She had nothing in the house but a jar of oil. It was enough for the miracle. The problem with many is that, instead of planning on how to invest the little they have to acquire more skills and competences, they rather think of eating it. And so, they remain in perpetual debts and frustration. The worst is to borrow money to spend on liabilities and food.
(4) Your opportunities are limited to your capacity.
As soon as the vessels the woman borrowed were over, the oil stop flowing. You cannot excell or perform beyond your capacity. Increase your capacity and you will have more opportunities.
Let’s stop here for today. Tomorrow we shall look at different capacity you can build. **Permit me to share later during the day some training opportunities to build your capacity.
