What Kind of Offering Do You Give to God
By Eric Jinkwen : –
2 Samuel 24:24 “Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.”
Which kind of offering can we give to God who has given us everything? When you think of who God is to you, His protection, His provisions and promotions in your life, what can you give Him?
Here is David in the midst of a challenge.
A plague broke out and people were dying because of a wrong action that he took to census the population of Israel. Finally, the Lord demanded a sacrifice to stop the plague. David had a proposal for a free sacrifice from a man called Araunah who wanted to give David everything he needed free of charge.
He is the response of David, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God with that which costs me nothing.”
Many people love to give God the left over of their possessions or finances. David, knowing God and loving God, did not accept to give a free sacrifice. He wanted to feel his offering. Let it cost him something.
Look at the following people.
Abraham gave his only son when God demanded him.
The poor widow gave her substance for living in a normal church meeting; she put all her substance in the basket of God.
The prostitute woman who was touched by the love of God gave a perfume equivalent to one year salary to honor Christ her Savior.

Solomon who also God gave a thousand cows as sacrifice, 2 Kings 3: 3-5.
What motivated these people to give as much to God when they did not see physically? This should also be your motivation.
- Their faith in God. They believed in the existence of God. They knew He exists (Heb 11: 1, 6).
- Their Love for God. Solomon loved God and gave a thousand sacrifices of cow 2 Kings 3: 3-5
- Their understanding of the greatness and the faithfulness of God. David understood that God is not any person.
- Their trust in God as their provider. Abraham believed in God who can bring back to life, and who calls things which are not as though they are.
How is your offering to God?
Your giving is always a reflection of your faith, your love, your understanding and trust in God. Hallelujah!
May God bless you and lift you up above your challenges and lack this week.
