Do not worry – Choose Not to Worry

By Rev. Eric Jinkwen

Matthew 6:27
“Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”

Many Christians are familiar with Jesus’ rhetorical question: “Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?” Yet, not many of us truly let this truth sink into our hearts and allow God’s love to free us from the habit and downward spiral of worrying.

The reality is that no amount of worry can extend your life or add anything to your physical being. Instead, worrying robs you of sleep, health, and precious years of life. It is only when you live worry-free that God’s anointing flows freely within you—strengthening, healing, restoring, and adding blessings to your life.

What Is Worrying?

Worrying is the act of dwelling on disturbing thoughts that bring restlessness, fear, and hopelessness. It is a sign of faithlessness or doubt, and it can be triggered by anything if we are not careful. Is there something or someone causing you to worry today?

A Testimony of Faith Over Fear

A church member once underwent a mammogram, and the results showed lumps in her breast. Upon receiving the doctor’s report, she immediately wrote on it:

“Jesus is my healer. I receive my healing. I am healed. I rest in God completely.”

Did you notice what she did? Instead of confessing her fears and doubts, she confessed God’s Word. Her faith was rooted in God’s promises, not in the doctor’s report.

Later that day, she was scheduled for a biopsy to determine if the lumps were malignant. However, she remained cheerful and worry-free, even while having lunch with her sister-in-law.

At the clinic, she sat among other women who were also awaiting their biopsies. Seeing their worried expressions, she began sharing Jesus with them and even prayed for some.

When it was finally her turn, the doctors performed an ultrasound scan—only to find no evidence of any lumps! Puzzled, they consulted the initial report and double-checked with the first doctor who had discovered the lumps. After conducting further investigations, both doctors were stunned and admitted, “It’s a miracle!”

Faith Over Fear

My friend, when you worry, you are unknowingly giving the devil more power than he actually has. You are believing that he can harm you in ways that God cannot protect you from. But when you choose to reject worry and rest in God’s love, you place your faith in His power, not in the enemy’s schemes.

By refusing to worry and instead trusting in the finished work of Christ, you position yourself to receive God’s blessings. That’s when you will witness the manifestation of your miracle.

Hallelujah!
