Helpers Don’t Make Noise
HELPERS DON’T MAKE NOISE
Matt. 6:1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
Matt. 6:2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
Matt. 6:3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
Matt. 6:4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
A God sent or genuine helper will slip off in the population or unnoticed. It is his act that is greater, and his purpose is to help, not to be seen.
Anonymity or quiet attitude reflects the heart motive Jesus; our greatest Helper encourages his people to adopt when giving. He warns against practicing acts of righteousness “to be seen” by others.

Good deeds are to be expressions of worship overflowing from hearts grateful for all that God has done and will do for us. Highlighting our generosity with the hope or expectation of being honored can take the focus off the Giver of all good things – Jesus the Christ!
He knows our intention of giving. He desires that our generosity, helps be motivated by love as we give Him the glory, honor and praise.

O Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding us that helping others, including our giving is a privilege and great way to thank You for life. May I, we so do, without the noise of the proud, in Jesus blessed name, amen.
Happy New year as we choose to make less noise in opportunities to help others.
