Let Your Works Be Perfect Before God

Revelation 3:2: "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God."

Meditation:

If you have notice, for the past two days we have been in the book of Revelation, meditation of Jesus’ words to the churches.
The church in Sardis is known as a dead church. Jesus addressing the church said, “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.” What a terrible description to a church. Normally a church should be alive. But this church was dead.
What could that mean having a name that you are alive but in reality, being dead?

(1) It could be that the church was very active in programs but dead spiritually.
Beloved hat someone is physically active does not mean spiritually effective. One can be very active in the flesh, and not in the Spirit of God.

(2) It could also be that they were not in the perfect will of God.
Therefore, their works were not perfect before God.

(3) It could also be that their hearts were not in what they were doing for God.
They were doing things by routine. This point is justified by the recommendation Jesus gave to them in verse 3a, “Remember therefore what you have received and heard; hold fast and repent.”

“Repent” means they should go back to the ideal or the original will of God. Dear friend? Where are you in your walk with God? Are you in God’s perfect will or your own decided will? Unless we return to God’s perfect will, whatever we do will not be perfect before God. Obedience to God is better than sacrifices. What did the Lord tell you to let go which you are still holding to it? What did the Lord tell you to do which you have neglected? It could be about your work, your marriage, your services in the house of God, your relationships and so on. Check your life and your walk with God properly.

Some Christians are very active, but actively dead because they have left out what the Lord told them.
The way out is, to repent. Verse 5 says, “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” You must overcome because you are an overcomer. Hallelujah!
