You are Blessed to be a Blessing
Genesis 12:2: "I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing."
Most often when Christians pray they pray like this: “Lord, send someone to bless ME. Father, please send MY destiny helper.” What’s wrong with this prayer? If it ends here, the prayer is too selfish. When are we going to also be destiny helpers to others? A blessing to others?
According to the Abrahamic blessing to which we belong, we are blessed to be a blessing. God promised three things to Abraham: A great name, a land and a blessing. And the blessing is not a material thing, but an enablement that will make Abraham a blessing to the world. Take note, God said, ” In our passage, “You shall be a blessing”. Not only that Abraham will be blessed. How shall Abraham become a blessing
(1) God will make him a great nation;
(2) God will bless him
(3) God will make his name great.

And the result is that Abraham shall be a blessing. Hallelujah!
So, if Abraham is praying, how will he pray? Will he pray that God should bless him and send him a destiny helper? No! He will pray, “God, you have made me a blessing, who should I bless today?
Abraham was a blessing to his nephew Lot. His descendants were a blessing to many people and to nations: Jacob, Joseph, Daniel… Abraham is a blessing to all families of the earth today. Three major religions in the world today are claiming Abraham as father: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.
Christianity is rooted in the Abrahamic blessing. Galatians 3:13-14 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
Beloved, you are free from all curses of the Law.
You are a partaker of the blessing of Abraham. You are blessed to be a blessing. You are someone’s destiny helper. You are someone’s answered prayers. Be and do to others what you want God to do to you. Go out everyday and be a blessing to someone. Look for someone to help, encourage, or support. It could be with the gospel, a word of prayer or a support. In whatever form, do it. You are a blessing.
