You Are Witnesses of Jesus Christ

Acts 1:8:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

One of the greatest promises in the Bible is the promise of the Holy Spirit. Beloved, a disciple of Jesus Christ has the Holy Spirit in him.

The prophets of Old like Ezekiel and Joel prophesied a time when God will poor His Spirit upon all flesh for a righteous living and for the proclamation of the word.
John the Baptist also spoke about the Holy Spirit. He explained that Jesus Christ will be the one to baptized his followers with the Holy Spirit and power.

Jesus Christ Himself spoke several times in the Gospels about the promise of the Holy Spirit. Het always described the Holy Spirit baptism as a very privileged and advantageous experience. In John 16:7 for example, we read, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”
In Acts 1, Jesus Christ was just few hours away from His ascension into heaven. He again reiterated the promise, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…”

Beloved, the Holy Spirit is already here. Hallelujah! You are loaded with supernatural or spiritual power, the power of the Holy Spirit in you. You are not helpless anymore.
Oh! if only Christians in the world today could understand the fullnest of this verse, then the world will be won over to Christ in less than 10 years.
What is the principal purpose of the Holy Spirit in this verse? To empower us to be witnesses of Jesus Christ.

Who is a witness?

One who was present and has seen, heard and lived an event or an experience. In this case, we are witnesses of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ; His grace, love, sufferings, healing, deliverance or in one word of the salvation that Jesus Christ gives.

A witness is one who testifies the truth about an event or an experience. So, if we are witnesses of Jesus Christ, our principal mission on earth is to testify to the world about Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God, though our lifestyle, life experiences and through words. How much and how committed are you as a witness? Tell someone today about Jesus Christ. Invite someone to church with you. Connect someone to this Devotionals. Share them or share the link with some other persons, and you will be doing a great job.
