Escape The Danger of Rejecting or Twisting God’s Word

By Eric Jinkwen

Deuteronomy 27:26: "‘Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’ And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’"

The Bible which contains the words of God is a sacred book. It reveals the living standard for all men. It is to be treated with utmost care and attention. There are great dangers for those who neglect it and those who twist it.
In Deuteronomy 27:26, God declares, ‘Cursed is anyone who does not affirm and obey the terms of these instructions.’ And all the people will reply, ‘Amen.’

Anyone who does not adhere to God’s word is under judgment of the word. The blessings of God are in obedience. We must actively obey the word of we want to see God’s blessings. In John 13:17, Jesus Christ spoke to His Disciples, If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. So, it is our obedience to God’s word that releases his blessings in our lives.

Unfortunately, many Christians know more than they practice it; that is why many are not experiencing a change of levels. What do you know that you are not practicing? Love, Forgiveness, giving, evangelism, praying, etc. Obedience is the key to God’s blessings.
Secondly, anyone who preaches and teaches a different Gospel, adding or subtracting from God’s word exposes himself to curses.

Paul wrote about that Galatians 1: 8-9, “Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.”

A lot of preachers and teachers today are exposing themselves to these curses. It is better not to preach or teach than to take up that task and say what is not scriptural. Men shall give account for every words they have spoken. Those who even mock at God’s word and intentionally say what the word din not say are also in that line. For example, those who use Genesis 1:28 where God said, “be fruitful and multiply…” to justify their sexual immorality are under curses. Never use the Scriptures for a joke.

John wrote in Revelation 22:18-19; “For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
We are commanded not to add nor to subtract from God’s word (Deut 4:2).
May God have mercy on us for the many times we have misused or abused God’s word, amen.
