If you have notice, for the past two days we have been in the book of Revelation, meditation of Jesus’ words to the churches.
The church in Sardis is known as a dead church. Jesus addressing the church said, “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.” What a terrible description to a church.
The popular saying that “a person who knows how to show appreciation for a previous favour will receive another”, instructively guides us into our discussion today. It is doubtful if there is any culture the world over where good gestures are not appreciated.
The church of Pergamos was located where Satan dwells and it did not stop them from holding fast to the Name of the Lord. It is amazing that Jesus did not even ask them to relocate, but simply asked them to repent from their sexual immorality and to abandon the false doctrines they were holding to.
If someone comes to you and tells all the good things he has seen in you and the marvelous things you have done; but when he is concluding his talk, he uses the word, “Nevertheless…” I am sure your breath will go up and you will want to hear what he will say next.
Most often when Christians pray they pray like this: “Lord, send someone to bless ME. Father, please send MY destiny helper.” What’s wrong with this prayer? If it ends here, the prayer is too selfish. When are we going to also be destiny helpers to others? A blessing to others?
Covetousness Forbidden Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5) Covetousness is a mortal sin that has taken over our society. Today, many people want to get rich by all means and at all […]
What happens when the righteous pray? Well the common knowledge is that our prayers are heard and answered by God. That is right. But do you know that there are services held in heaven during which our prayers are literally offered as sacrifices on a golden altar?
There are many inventors in life whose names are never heard about because they gave up on the verge of their discoveries. Life is about persistence, and one man who was very persistent in his pursuit of greatness was Elisha (2nd Kings 2).
This verse has always been a great booster to my prayer life, especially when it comes to interceding for the land. We Understand from the verse that one person alone can made the difference in prayer. Let me put it the right way, You can make the difference in prayer
1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
Who is a wise Christian?
We may have so many answers, but let’s look at this few:
(1) A wise Christian is one who puts the word of God into practice. He is a wise builder who builds his life on the rock (Matthew 7:24-27). No problem will bring him down.
There is a good and normal practice that is gradually dying among many Christians today, Evangelism or Witnessing. Let me ask you, when is the last time you invited someone to Church or preach the Gospel to someone?
When Andrew found Jesus Christ, it did not take long for him to invite his brother Peter. Our passage says, ” The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).”
When you experience somethings in your life that are not supposed to take place, you should begin to suspect that there is a door opened that should be closed. From our main verse above, Jesus does not only open doors, He can also help you to shut some doors. Hallelujah! What are such doors that needs to be close?
It is naturally difficult to keep our peace and joy when faced with problems. Usually, we record various negative reactions when people are confronted with problems. Some panic; others get confused; still others are gripped with fears and worries.
This truth very much applies to the case of Christ and the Pharisees. Long before Christ came into the world, the Pharisees commanded high esteem among the Jews. They, indeed, craved the praise of men and positioned themselves as custodians of God’s holy standard.
