As we said yesterday, relationships are important because we are relational beings. The gift of relationship is God’s blessings to us. They are the true riches of our lives-people, not cars or money. God will always use a man to bless us or send us to a man to bless us. We need relationships to stay stable and balance. You cannot live your life as if you do not need anybody.

You need relationships, valuable and healthy relationships. You know, in Africa it is said, even if you claim you do not need people when you are alive, when you die, you will need people to mourn and bury you.

There are different types and dimensions of relationships.
(1) Family relationships
(2) Christian relationships
(3) Professional relationships
(4) Friendship relationships… and so on.

You must be able to define each. Don’t just keep casual and purposeless relationships. There are relationships that are worth to fight for and there are some that you just let them be. Any relationship that tends to bring you down such as bad friends, fight against it. And because we are humans, there will always be frictions and challenges. So, do all that you can to preserve valuable relationships. How do you determine valuable relationships?

(1) Relationships that build your faith and help you to know or go closer to God.

Ruth was a Moabite. A stranger to the God of Israel. But she found someone who could help her come close to this God. Even after many discouragements, she refuse to go back to her gods. She decided to stay with Naomi. Have you abandoned a relationship that was meant to bring you closer to God?

(2) Relationships that bring you close to God’s people.

Ruth’s commitment to follow Naomi was also a desire to stay with God’s people. Please, stay away from anyone that takes you away from Church and God’s people.

(3) Relationships that bring out the best in you and help you fulfill your purpose and your destiny.

Ruth ended up marrying Boaz, the great grandparent of King David, and ancestor of Jesus Christ. Ruth became a mother in Israel because she discerned and fought for the right relationships. There are some contacts in your life you should not joke with such as: Servants of God, Elders or parents in the family,

Elders in the faith, a boss at workplace… Do not joke with such relationships. Do all you can to preserve such relationships. If you have betrayed or broken the trust in any of these cases, find the right words to write or call to restore that relationship. Remember, water always flows from up to down. The blessings always flow from top to bottom.
