How to deal with the worries of life

Dealing with your worries

Philippians 4:6
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.

In our world of today, all conditions are put together for one to be in perpetual state of worry: political and social crises, economic depression, changing behaviors of men around us, health crisis, marital problems and so on.
Are you worried?
Why are you worried?

Worry is an irrational emotion of fear missed with desperation. The one who worries is uncertain about the future or the outcome of a situation. Most of the time it is because one looks at the wrong source of confidence.

When you look around and walk by sight, you will be worried. When you look within you for solution to your crisis, you may see the inability to deal with your situation. But when you look unto Jesus, you can see possibilities and solutions.

Apostle, in helping his readers deal with their worries began by pointing them to Jesus Christ. Jesus said come to me all of you that are burdened with heavy loads and I will give your rest. How do you effectively deal with your worries?

1) Let the Lord be your joy, inspiration and motivation.

Philippians 4:4 says, “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!” So, in whom should we be full of joy? In the Lord. Not in the economic stability. Not in our bank account. Not in any other person but in the Lord.

2) Learn to present your challenges to God in prayer.

Verse 6, ” Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.” Cast all your anxieties upon Him for He cares for you.

3) Learn to receive the peace of God after you have prayed.

V7 ” Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Many people pray, but few actually receive peace from God. When you pray, believe that God has already worked out a way for you by grace, so learn to receive it by faith. He is in control of your situation. And so, rest your confidence in Him.
The last think to do is

4) Feed your mind with rightful thoughts.

Learn to choose what you feed your mind with. Put in the promises of God and not the news on the TV. Paul added this advice “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise”
(Philippians 4:8).
