There are four truths about God in this text that shapes our Theology and our approach into His presence. They are found in V3&5.
What you know about God will determine how you approach His presence. Our knowledge of God will shape our approach to life and our approach to God.
Our theology will determine how we treat God’s presence and God’s people.
What truths are found in Psalm 100 about God?
- The Lord, He is God.
V3. In Hebrews, it is written, “Yahweh (hoo) is Elohim”. This is a very strong statement for the Israelites. It makes reference to God who is Creator and Whom Moses had to prove to them had sent him to them Exodus 3:14-15); that is the God of their fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob… - It is He who has made us.
One of the reasons Moses wrote Genesis was to present to Israel the God who is creator of all things including man, Genesis 1:26. So, the Israelites should not make mistakes about it.
Other nations around them were worshipping other gods and they could not defend their connections. But the Psalmist insisted that God is their creator.
“Made us” here is more than just “created us”. It also means that Elohim hoo Yahweh is the one who constituted them into a nation. They are His chosen people (95:6-7, Deut 32:6, 15; Is 29:23). He redeemed them from Egypt and made them into a nation.
Beloved, unless God makes, you cannot make yourself. He can give you promotion, open doors. He can settle you as He settled the Israelites in their promise land. He gave you existence. He is your redeemer from sins. Without Him, there is no you.
How do you worship such a person?

Prayer: Father God in Heaven, I acknowledge that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture. I will enter into Your gates with thanksgiving, And into Your courts with praise. I am thankful to You, and I bless Your Holy name, amen.
Psalms 100:3
Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
As we saw, Psalm 100 invites all people to praise and worship God. There are four truths about God in this Psalm (V3, 5) that we must grasp that will shape our approach into His presence. What you know and believe about God will determine how you approach His presence.
The verb to “know” we find in verse 3 is the Hebrew word “yada” (yaw-dah’) meaning: to know (properly, to ascertain by seeing); to acknowledge, to be aware, to comprehend, consider, understand, or have understanding. “know” in V3 is a such a complex word. It goes beyond simple information to an experiential knowledge.
How much do you know God?
When you say, you know God what do you mean?
1) Yahweh is God.
2) Yahweh created us.
We are not descendants of monkeys as supports the theory of evolution. Genesis 1:26, we were created by God in His image. You are in the image of God. The third truth about God is in this text is,
3) We are God’s people.
God chose Abraham and gave him 3 promises: A great name (make him into a nation), a land and a blessing. Jews are descendants of that promise. The church is also the product of that promise. We are the sheep of His pasture. He is our Shepherd and we shall not want. He shall lead us to great pasture and restore our souls, (Ps 23). If a sheep does not submit to the shepherd, it will stray into danger. Stay submitted to God.

4) For the Lord is Good, His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
There are three attributes of God here: Goodness, Mercy, Truthfulness. The NIV speaks of Goodness, love and faithfulness. Praise the Lord!
This Psalm is teaching us that any proper Theology or belief about God will lead us to love, submit, worship and serve God.
Our theology will shape our lifestyle. Our theology will determine how we treat God’s presence and God’s people. You cannot love God and hate people. Our theology will determine how we approach challenges and temptations. Joseph said, “How can I do this wicked thing and sin against my God”.
Prayer: O Lord my God, I believe you are my Creator, Redeemer and Shepherd. I submit to you and to your purpose. I will praise and worship you forever in Jesus name, amen !
