A Father who made the Difference.

Job 1:5: And when the days of the feast had run their course, Job would send and consecrate them [his children], and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus, Job did continually.

If there is a man whose life and testimony is worth studying, it is the man, Job. A man of unquestionable spirituality and holiness. A man who loved God with all his heart. The Bible says of him, “There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.”(Job 1:1). What a powerful testimony. How many of us can receive such accolades today?

Job was so blessed and so distinguished that he was the greatest of all the people of the East. Despite his many trials, Job did not give up his loyalty and love for God. He was also a distinguished. What can we learn about his fatherhood?

(1) He worked for the unity of his children (V4).

The children used to meet together and feast together. A great sign of unity.

(2) He worked for their spiritual life.

After their feasting, Job would send and consecrate them.

(3) He was a man of the altar (He labored in prayer).

He would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. The sacrifices were for their sanctification.

(4) He was consistent in his dedication and spirituality.

The verse concludes, “Thus Job did continually.”

Fathers and mothers, and even future ones, we can all learn these qualities in Job’s life which made him the greatest of all the East. It was not just his money and resources, but how connected he was to God and the family man he was. Greatness and distinction in life begins with the fear of God. Praise the Lord.

Prayer. Lord, help me to fear you and to love you like Job. Grant me to be consistent in my loyalty and spirituality even as I serve my family. Amen.
