Operating in the Blessings
By Eric Jinkwen
Galatians 3:13-14
"Christ has redeemed us from the Curses of the Law… that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus."
The Bible contains universal truths and revelations that can help us interpret times and seasons of our lives. More importantly, it helps us to know what we can do when we face hardships. God has written down what a man can do to move from a condition of curses to a life of blessings. You can choose a life of blessings and fulfilment today. The Bible shows us how to do that. Let’s begin by seeing what a blessing is.
A blessing is:
- An empowerment that enables you to be fruitful and productive. You can read Genesis 1:28,
Deuteronomy 8:18.
The blessing of God on your life does not replace work. It makes your work or efforts productive.
The blessing of God removes sorrow and burden from your work, Pr. 10:22. When there is a curse, work is painful, Deuteronomy 28:47-48; no harvest, low harvest… - A blessing is like an Aroma of favor that follows you everywhere you go. People can fight you, oppose you like they did to Isaac in Genesis 26, but you will still make it.
- A blessing is also a state of being in line with God’s promise like Abraham in Genesis 12: 3. Many confuse blessing as an endowment and blessing as a fulfilment or a gift. As a fulfilment, a blessing is the material gift that you receive, the success and achievements.
Somebody can give you a car as a gift. it is a blessing. But God can endow you with capacity that you buy a car with ease; you can even give out cars to others. So, as an endowment, the blessing is part of your being. You are a blessing.
Jesus Christ is the blessing of God to us.
When you receive Christ, potentially you are blessed. - A blessing is Spiritual condition as a privilege child of God as we can see in John 1:12-13.
Ephesians 1:3-11 describes it better. We are blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

God began talking about Jesus Christ as the Seed in Genesis 3:15. It is in Jesus Christ that all the curses of humanity are broken and the works of Satan are destroyed. Halleluiah!!! Galatians 3 helps us to see that the Seed is Jesus Christ.
Christ is the riches of God. When you have Jesus Christ, you have riches of heaven in you.
Abraham was blessed because he received and accepted the promises of God about the Seed. Noah, David and all the prophets were looking forward to the promise of God.
We have adoption as children of God and we become part of God’s family through Jesus. If we are sons, we heirs. So, when we accept the Gospel message, we are joined with Christ in such a way that we become part of Abraham’s family, God’s family. According to Galatians 3: 13-14, Christ has ended the curses and opened the way for us to be part of God’s family and be Blessed forever.
Salvation is God’s ultimate blessing because salvation is the fulfilment of God’s blessing in the world in spite of the damages caused in the world by Satan and evil forces.
The Gospel message is that Jesus Christ became not only sin, but also a curse and God’s creative purpose for the blessing of his creation is established beyond any possible reversal. Praise the Lord. You are blessed irreversibly.
Thank you Jesus Christ.
Physical Manifestations of God Blessings
Deuteronomy 28:2 "And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God"
In Deuteronomy 28, there 68 verses: 14 verses explains the blessings that will follow God’s people; 54 verses reveal the curses. It is a continuation of chapter 27 that lists out causes of curses. The connection to God’s blessings is obedience to His voice.
Verse 1 says, “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.”
This is the summary of blessings that comes as a result of our obedience:
- Exaltation. God’s people will be set above all nations of the earth.
God delights in our exaltation. It is not a sin to be great. You can read Gen 12: 2; 2 Sam 7:8-9. - Productiveness and fruitfulness in every area of life, Deuteronomy 28:3-6, 8.
- Good Health. Even today, the gospel is a package of forgiveness of sins, healing, deliverance from curses. Lk 4:18-19; Matt 10:1, 7-8;
- All-round prosperity or Success. We find that in Deuteronomy 28: 11-12. May the Lord proper you in your labour.
- Victory over all our enemies and opponents, V7.
- Authority V10&13.
God’s people are to be the head and not the tail, above and not beneath; the head means, leader, decision making and not just follower. You can be a follower today but a leader in the making. And this is not about position, but about influence. Joseph was a slave in Potiphar’s house, but he was a leader in that house, the same when he was in prison.

Take note that prayer and blessings do not replace work that we have to do. When you read Deuteronomy 28, you will realize that productivity is in the field. God blesses the work of our hands. The blessings of God in our lives work where there is work, not where people fold their hands in laziness.
The blessing of God in our lives empowers us for greater results in our labour. It removes sorrows and burden.
My role as a minister of God word is to equip God’s people, empower them through the word of faith and grace so that they can succeed in God’s purposes for their lives.
Is God laying a project in your heart?
An Exam to write?
A calling?
A dream?
a vision?
Write it down. And begin to work on it. I pronounce all those blessings to come upon you today in Jesus name. May God open doors for you. Let this week release unto you all that you need for the next level. Hallelujah!
