1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

“Hatred corrodes the container that carries it”- Senator Alan Simpson. And he commented that “The US 41st president George HW Bush embraced humour and love rather than hatred in his professional leadership and personal relationships.”

Medical research reveals that the damage done to our bodies when we cling to the negative or release bursts of anger are enormous: blood pressure rises, hearts pound, spirits sag, brain fatigue and seizures result – our containers corrode!

King Solomon says in Proverbs 10:12 “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”
Hatred for others is the fuel for revenge so that those who despise others cannot connect.

Hatred robs you of life and poisons your system while the object of your bitterness maybe free and even unaware. How many people are suffering because of your bitterness and hatred? Who are those you despise? What wars are raging at intra-personal, interpersonal, intercommunity, inter-regional, inter-religious and international levels? Jealousy, Pride, vengeance, economic exploitative, positions, etc. are fuel for bitterness and hatred.

In contrast, God’s way of love covers – forgives all wrongs .We don’t enable wrongdoers but we don’t nurse the wrong when there’s genuine remorse and repentance. We who experientially know the Great Lover are to “love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.

Prayer: O Lord my God, cause this reader to see the danger hatred can corrode, stain and destroy his/her life and to choose the way of love, Your kind of love that heals relationship and removes all forms of corrosion or rust in our lives -containers in Jesus mighty name! Amen.
