Breaking Invisible Barriers to Divine Healing

By Eric Jinkwen ; –

Hosea 4:6 , My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

In the School of healing or in the ministry of healing, we need to know that there is no barrier on God’s side. When Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the Temple was torn from top to bottom. The Holy of Holiest was then opened to give all men free access to the blessings, graces, mercies and glory of God, (Heb 4: 14-16)

Every barrier on God’s side was removed that day when the veil was torn, but there might be barriers to healing in people’s lives and people’s heart.

  1. Ignorance of God’s word or God’s will.
    Ignorance is a dangerous spiritual disease. In Hosea 4:6, the Bible is clear, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
Why do people lack knowledge? Because they have rejected knowledge. Knowledge is available. They do not spend time to personally study God’s word or they do not make up time to attend teachings and conferences on the Word.

Many people’s mountain is in reality a mountain of ignorance. Isaiah 5:11 reveals, Woe to those (the country, the people) who rise early in the morning, that they may follow intoxicating drink; who continue until night, till wine inflames them!

Is that not the behavior of many Cameroonians?
In many countries people will rather spend time and money drinking and feasting rather than invest in building up their spirit in the word. How many books have you bought and read since the year began? We see all kinds of troubles plaguing people because they have neglected the word of God.
In the redemptive work of God, The Bible says in Matthew 8:17b “He (Jesus) took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

So, people are destroyed for lack of Knowledge. Only the truth sets free, (John 8: 32, 36). You shall be set free in the Name of Jesus Christ. Freedom is your portion.
Some of the powerful truths of divine healing are in 1 Peter 2:24 and Proverbs 4:20-22. Read the aloud.

Prayer: “O God Our Father! I acknowledge that I am still ignorant of many things; ignorant of your will; ignorant of your word. Have mercy on me. I take responsibility today, to seek Your Word and to know Your will. Please Lord, put your word in our spirits, and write them on our hearts that we may know you and experience freedom and divine health.”

Breaking Invisible Barriers to Divine Healing

Mark 6:5‭-‬6b: Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief.

Can you imagine that Jesus Christ with all the anointing and power could not do mighty works in His home town? what was the blockage? Unbelief.
Unbelief is such a dangerous spiritual obstacle to miracles and healing. It is usually coupled with doubt and fear. Unbelief is not just a weakness, it is a sin.

The Bible says in Hebrews 3: 12-13, “Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

Did you see the connection? Any time we resist the truth and the ministry of a servant of God because of familiarity, we yield into unbelief. Because a minister is your brother or sister, your son or daughter, your husband or wife, your school mate or childhood friend, do not despise nor minimize him in your heart. Familiarity breeds contempt. It is a great barrier to promotions in the spirit realm; it disconnects you from blessings and healing.

Hebrews 4:1-2 says Israel did not enter their rest because of lack of faith-unbelief, “Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.”

How do you fight ignorance and unbelief? 1. Constantly read and meditate to the word. Romans 10: 17, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”

  1. Read and meditate healing Scriptures. Spend time in them.
  2. Listen to people’s testimonies. Let me tell you, testimonies give birth to testimonies… Mark 5: 21ff… Mark 6: 53-56. When you do those things, your faith will be boosted, and your mind renewed. Hallelujah!

Payer: “Heavenly Father, we come to you in the Name of Jesus. We confess our sin of unbelief. We do not try to excuse it, we are responsible for it. We are sorry for it; we ask you to forgive us and to deliver us from it. O Father, impart to us your faith. Today, we declare each of us individually, we believe in God the Father, we believe in Jesus Christ the Son, we believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Bible, the authoritative word of God. The word of God is true. We believe Jesus died for us and through His sacrifice, we are free.” Hallelujah !

Breaking Invisible Barriers to your Divine Healing

James 5:16: "Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much."

God’s ultimate will for us as we can see from 3 John 1:2 is that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. But on our part, they can be some obstacles that prevents the manifestation of God’s plan and desires for our lives. We saw ignorance and unbelief. Let’s look at the third obstacle.

  1. Unconfessed Sins and an Unrepentant heart. Proverbs 28: 13-14 says, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Happy is the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.” We need to not only confess, but also repent from any sin we know we are living in. James raise the necessity of cleaning ourselves when he was instructing believers on the subject of divine healing. James 5: 14-16, he wrote: “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.

And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
God knows all things, even the secrets in our hearts. He reads our thoughts. So, if God asks us to confess our sins, it is not so that we can inform him on what we have done, but so that He can forgive us according to1John 1:9. You cannot surprise or embarrass God with your confession, no matter the sins. All He wants from us is to acknowledge His Son Jesus Christ as our redemption, and our sanctification. Jesus Christ is our advocate before the Father and He is the propitiation of our sins (1 John 2: 1-2).

Prayer: Holy and Merciful Father, by the Holy Spirit, reveal to me all hidden sins in my life and help me to confess and forsake them in Jesus Name”.
Bow down your heard… Now, go ahead to confess every sin the Holy Spirit reveals to you (5 minutes for that)
If you have confessed and you are sure God has forgiven you, say with me:
“Thank you God for forgiving me. I receive my forgiveness and I also forgive myself in Jesus Name!” (Learn to forgive yourself your mistakes and wrong doings). Now you can claim your healing and victory over that sickness and pains in Jesus name.

Breaking invisible Barriers to Divine Healing

Mark 11: 25: "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

We have seen three barriers to divine healing already. Added to ignorance, unbelief and sin in general, are negative attitudes such as unforgivers and resentment.
Jesus was teaching about faith and prayers and He said in Mark 11: 22-24
“… Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

You see how powerful faith can be. Because you exercise faith in God by believing His word and His ability to perform it, God can move mountains in your life. Mountains represents problems, sickness and trials. But some people’s faith does not work well because of unforgiveness, bitterness, and resentment in their hearts. The problem is that people can see you praying, but they do not see your heart. What is in your heart will determine whether you receive the the answers or not.

Jesus then added in V25 and 26, “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Did you see that? Your heart that is your spirit must be free from negative attitudes.

You see, forgiveness and prayer go together. We have it again explained in Matthew 6:14 & 15.
So, if we pray with resentment, bitterness, anger, or unforgiveness in our hearts, the prayers cannot go through. Those negative attitudes stand as barriers to the flow of the Holy Spirit.
Forgiveness is not an emotion, it is a decision. Husbands who have been hurt by their wives should forgive.

Wives, who have been hurt by their husbands, forgive. Children hurt by their parents should forgive. Parents, friends, relatives, neighbors and colleagues should forgive each other.
You may be keeping a record of people’s faults; remember that God knows your life too.
Forgiving or asking for forgiveness is not a sign of weakness, rather it is wisdom to your own self-interest. It is a divine virtue to imitate, Read Ephesians 4: 31-32.

Prayer: Dear Father, reveal to me all issues of unforgiveness and help me to deal with them appropriately.
Let the Holy Spirit minister to you; are you holding someone?
Lord is any resentment in my heart, any bitterness, anger, pains and in my heart, any unforgiveness; I renounce them now in Jesus name! I lay them down! Anyone who has ever harmed me, abused me, wronged me, cheated me, insulted me… I resolve to forgive now; I receive your forgiveness in Jesus name, amen!
