God Is the Lifter of Men

GOD’S WORD FOR YOU TODAY

Text : 2 Samuel 7:8-9 and 2 Samuel 5:10.

2 Samuel 7:8
NKJV: Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

LSG (French) : Maintenant tu diras à mon serviteur David: Ainsi parle l’Eternel des armées: Je t’ai pris au pâturage, derrière les brebis, pour que tu fusses chef sur mon peuple, sur Israël;

2 Samuel 7:9
NKJV: And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.

LSG: j’ai été avec toi partout où tu as marché, j’ai exterminé tous tes ennemis devant toi, et j’ai rendu ton nom grand comme le nom des grands qui sont sur la terre;

2 Samuel 5:10
NKJV: So David went on and became great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.

LSG: David devenait de plus en plus grand, et l’Eternel, le Dieu des armées, était avec lui.

In this life, if you don’t believe that God is the lifter of all men, then you would remain in the position in which you are. It is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord.

Romans 9:16
AMP: So then [God’s gift] is not a question of human will and human effort, but of God’s mercy. [It depends not on one’s own willingness nor on his strenuous exertion as in running a race, but on God’s having mercy on him.]

So it is not all about your efforts sometimes, its about God showing you mercy. God taking you you from nothing to something. From poverty to riches, from weaknesses to strength, from emptiness to being filled etc.
In the text above, God told the prophet Nathan to remind David that He(God) was the one who took David from being a Shepherd boy to becoming a great king over the most wealthiest and most powerful kingdom on earth at that time. It was as a result of his efforts or strength. But it was because God showed him mercy and by Himself, chose to lift David up.

This was a similar situation with that of Joseph and even Jesus himself ( known as the son of the carpenter) of which nothing good can ever come out from.
In this life, God lifts people up from no where to somewhere. To places they had never dreamt of being. God can also lift you up today from whatever situation you are in. Be it poverty, debts, sickness, burdens, too much responsibilities and so on, to a place of rest. All you need to do is to trust God and believe He is able to lift you out of that situation and He will.

God will lift us up using the people around us. Our bosses, friends ,family members and many others. But we should be careful and let our focus not be on the people God will use or can use but let our focus be on God who commands the heart of everyone around us. In other words, let your heart not be so tied to one uncle or brother or aunty or boss etc because with or without them, God can still lift you up. Concentrate on the one who lifts people up and not the people he might use.

And the word of God says ” David became greater and greater because the Lord God Almighty was with him”. It doesn’t matter what your situation is or what you are going through right now because there is assurance of victory and greatness once the Lord Himself is with you. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. We have overcome the world and situations in Jesus name. Amen.
