Encounter God through His Covenants
By Eric Jinkwen ; – From the series “The Covenant Keeping God“
“I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David: ‘Your seed I will establish forever, And build up your throne to all generations.’ ” Selah
The next important Covenant in the Bible is the Davidic Covenant. This Covenant was in reference to the Messiah who will come from the lineage of David and reign forever on His throne. That Son is Jesus Christ who again is called Son of David, one of the favorite names of Jesus Christ that appealed to the mercy of God.
The Bible speaks of the sure mercy of David (Isaiah 55:3). David indeed received mercy from God.
- From a shepherd to a king.
See where God took him from, “I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth”
(2 Samuel 7:5, 8-9).
- David in a time of weakness took a man’s wife and orchestrated the man’s death.
Yet, David was loved God with all his heart and it made all the difference.
Friend, If you still love God with all your heart, no matter your numerous failings, there is hope for you. God treated David with mercy. Mercy is yours today.
So, before one is jealous of God’s Covenant with David, he or she needs to also see how David showed his love in return for God.
- He could not bear the Philistines insult the name of God.
Still as a boy, David dared to take up a challenge against an experienced Philistines giant, Goliath. While all other soldiers were running away, David risked his life, but was fully persuaded God will not fail him.
- He could not bear living in a fine house and the Ark of God is in tents (2 Samuel 7:1-2).
He made an immense provision for God’s Temple before his dead.
- David could not give to God what has not caused him something (2 Sam 24v24).
He was a man of great sacrifices for God.
That is the man we are talking about.
So, God literally made an oath to this man, David, that He will ensure that his throne will abide throughout all generations. What a marvelous move of God.
Serve God with all you heart and He will not failed to give you a privilege position in His kingdom. Hallelujah!!!
Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
The greatest of all covenants is the Covenant in the blood of Jesus. All other covenants of the OT were pointing to this Covenant.
The promised Seed that God spoke about in Genesis 3:15, is Jesus Christ.
To fulfilled Abraham’s Covenant, Jesus Christ came as the promised Seed through whom, all believers become Abraham’s children.

The promise King to sit on David’s throne forever is still Jesus Christ.
The Passover Lamb that Moses instructed the Israelites to kill for their exemption is once again a picture of Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul wrote and he said, “…For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us”
Beloved, the covenant in the blood of Jesus is the summary of all Covenants. In a Passover celebration, Jesus became our Passover and established a new covenant with God on our behave.
“Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”
Once we are in a vital and personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we receive:
- Total forgiveness of sins and continues cleansing as we walk in the light.
See this, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
(1 John 1:7). We also receive:
- True Life through the blood of the covenant.
That life is eternal life. Jesus said to those following, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:53-54).
- We also obtain better promises from God.
But now He (Jesus) has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.”
(Hebrews 8:6). Hallelujah
Think of what better promises God has for you? As you stand with Christ, name those promises and believe that they are yours in Jesus name.

Prayer: Father, I confess that I have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. I am redeemed, forgiven, free, and empowered in Jesus name, Hallelujah!
